What is the difference between plasma and LCD?
LCD and plasma are different technologies. LCD monitors are constantly increasing their size. Plasma monitors constantly increase their service life. To date, the debate about the advantages and disadvantages of plasma and LCD is not allowed.
In order to better understand the issue, let's look at the technologies separately:
Technology costs, as it is clear from the title, onliquid crystals. But not only they give us a beautiful image. Also there are two polarized transparent plates. Between them is a layer of liquid crystals. On each of the plates there are electrodes, which supply current to each cell of the matrix. The light beam passes through this structure and rotates, as a result of the polarizer, by 90 degrees. Also there is a light filter and a backlight. In other words, the main difference between the LCs and the plasma is the operating principle of the system - the beam of light passes through the crystals and the polarization process.
The technology of the plasma panel is built on the sameprinciple as well as an LCD TV. The only difference is that instead of crystals, an inert gas is used. It can be neon, argon or xenon - depending on the model of the panel. Each cell contains, the so-called phosphor, which gives the cell connection by one of the three primary colors. In the LCD TV, this function is performed by a light filter. Between each cell there is a partition that does not let pass an external light source. This gives a high contrast even at a high level of illumination of the room where the plasma panel is located. Each cell is an independent light source, so no backlight is required. After discharging the electrode, exceeding a certain critical value, each cell begins to be associated in the ultraviolet range. This range is not visible to the human eye. However, such an effect leads to a luminescent phosphor that produces the main colors - red green and blue. This glow is the final picture that we perceive.

And our answer: it's all about the materials that produce the image. In the plasma panel, the glow creates a special gas (neon, argon, xenon), which interacts with the light source and ultraviolet oscillations. As for the liquid crystal monitor, then all the work is done by liquid crystals, which transform the image after the process of polarization and electrical impulses.
